Industrial Beauty: Paintings from George Billis Gallery

June 14, 2024 — July 25, 2024

Industrial Beauty: Paintings from George Billis Gallery is presented to complement the Fairfield Museum’s exhibition Bridgeport at Work: Muralist Robert Lambdin and Bridgeport Brass. Industrial Beauty showcases the work of seven artists capturing the beauty of the American cityscape and landscape. The inspiration for this show ranges from the urban architecture of New York City to industrial structures along the Connecticut coast. Each artist in the exhibition has mastered the genre of landscape realism and the techniques of observation and expression in architectural and industrial realism. This exhibition connects the era of Westport-based muralist Robert Lambdin’s work during the height of manufacturing in World War II to today’s urban landscapes. The artists and their work consider the legacy of industry and its architectural remnants as a memory of the labor that defined and continue to affect places like Bridgeport and New York City.

The exhibition Industrial Beauty: Paintings from George Billis Gallery was recently featured in American Art Collector. To read the full article, click here.
